Office Massage Therapy Can Reduce Stress, Pain and Costs

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Last week we wrote about how office massage therapy can help reverse postural problems and the pain associated with them. While there is research that has been done showing that massage therapy can help in many different areas (relieving stress, reducing pain, etc.) it’s always nice to read up on studies that show effective massage therapy in action.

MassageMag has published two such articles demonstrating the effectiveness of office massage in improving employee health. (more…)

Massage Therapy and Veteran’s Day

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Last month I wrote a Blog post that was somewhat critical of the Massage Therapy Journal, a publication put out by the American Massage Therapy Association. Today, with Veteran’s Day coming up next week, I want to commend the AMTA for its publication of an article about massage therapy and how specific organizations are trying help today’s veterans with massage therapy. The article is not available online, but I sourced it below – it’s a great read for therapists looking to give back to a very deserving segment of the population. (more…)

Workplace Massage: A Growing Trend or Compelling Anecdote?

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Skimming through back issues of AMTA’s Massage Therapy Journal, I came upon an article about workplace massage with a compelling headline: More Businesses are Offering Massage Therapy as an Employee Benefit. This was published in June, 2009, right as the economy pulled out of recession, and I was excited that the MTJ – a very thorough and professional publication – was going to provide some solid information about a possible growth area in the massage therapy industry.

But in that entry, we glossed over the fact that making massage oils and aromatherapy oils can be a very easy task. Follow the directions below, and start adding aromatherapy to your chair and table massage sessions. It is a great addition to the many benefits that massage therapy already offers. (more…)

Massage Means Less Stress, More Math

Monday, August 10th, 2009

I do not think there is anyone who would be reading this blog and would not agree that stress is a major problem in modern society, and that massage is a great way to get rid of it. (more…)

Massage for the New Year

Monday, January 19th, 2009

It is the beginning of a new year, which can be an energizing yet worrisome time.  Like a blast of cold wind, the month of January brings to our attention the possibility of new opportunities and causes us to reflect on the goals we didn’t reach in the previous twelve months.  Although the new year is seen as a clean slate, the vast array of choices we have can fill us with anxiety and leave us feeling overwhelmed and powerless to make significant long term changes.  Consider using massage therapy as a tool to overcome anxiety and keep your mind, body and spirit working in harmony to achieve your goals this year.
